Craft and Sewing Show in Townsville

Saturday, July 16th, 2011

Currently we are in Townsville at the Craft & Sewing Show being held at the Townsville Entertainment Centre.  Two days in and we are having a great deal of fun catching up with regular clients and meeting heaps of new people.

The Townsville show visitors are the first to see the almost completed “Dutch Christmas” – a brand new 5 month Block of the Month Project designed and stitched by Catharina celebrating her Dutch heritage and in memory of her wonderful mum, Jose.

We thought we would give you a sneak peek of a few of the blocks…..

If you want to be amongst the first to sign up for this BOM – it’s $35 per month plus postage – all you need to do is email Howard at sales@cccpatchwork.com.au

“Hey Sis! Let’s put this mistletoe around the tree.”

No Dutch quilt is complete without the iconic windmill!

Darling Harbour Day 2

Thursday, June 23rd, 2011

Have you ever been at the show when it first opens?  Every morning just before the show opens, Gary leads a team of exhibitors in a ‘Welcome’ dance routine – its great fun for everyone involved, even if they can’t dance!

One of the highlights for the show is the chance to see Mel from Miss Sampson’s Drapery strut his stuff – he always has a great deal of fun but he has two left feet!
As you can see from this picture he’s facing the wrong way from the rest of the team! You do have to give him ten points for trying though!

I am presenting three talks daily but when I’m back on the stand I am also demonstrating the latest in tools and gadgets to make your stitching and patchwork easier and more successful.

To my right you might spot the Sewline Needle Threader – these have walked out over the first two days – luckily we have been able to secure more stock for the rest of the show.

In front, you will see the show special Quilter’s Cut ‘n Press double sided board – these are great value at $45.00 marked down from $75.00!

It will be great to have John on the stand tomorrow so pop by and say hello!

Darling Harbour Day 1

Thursday, June 23rd, 2011

What a fabulous first day!

We hit the ground running and didn’t stop!  With three different presentations in three different locations within the venue, on site demonstrations and some new staff as well, there was plenty to keep us busy in the first few hours of the show!

Bill West from Westalee Rulers finally made it out of Bathurst with stock and samples…the weather certainly made it challenging for travellers coming from that direction!  He tells us he has pictures of the snow but we are yet to see them!

There are several brand new quilt designs released at this show – hot from under the machine of Catharina and Howard…

Be the amongst the first to order L’Amour de Paris, Catharina’s brand new stitchery and applique design featuring two of Nikki Tervo’s ceramic poodle buttons.

Darling Harbour Craft and Quilt fair

Thursday, June 23rd, 2011

We have had a big day setting up the stand in preparation for opening at 9.00am tomorrow.

There was just a tiny hiccup when we discovered we couldn’t find the credit card machine but after many frantic phone calls (thanks John for the lend of your phone) it was tracked down and will be ready to run hot tomorrow!

New supplies of our Funky Wool were delivered this morning so if you missed out in Brisbane – get in quick! Just one ball will make this season’s hot new look in scarves!

Hot show special from Birch is the Quilter’s Cut ‘n Press 2 – one side is a cutting board and the other is an ironing surface.

Normally $75.00 – show special for the Sydney show only $45.00!

Weekend at the Wholesalers Market

Thursday, June 23rd, 2011

Well hello fellow quilters l had a great weekend . Well l started by getting up at quarter past 4 in the morning and watched the lunar eclipse, packed the car and set off on my way to Sydney. When l get going l just drive. Stopped for fuel and a bite to eat got to there at 3 in the afternoon, settled in my room, got my sewing and was trying to get new designs ready for Saturday.

l think l brought the whole sewing room, l converted the motel room to my sewing room. The hours got away from me and l thought l better clean up because I’m sharing with two other girls – Natalie Ross and Gail Pan and l got so carried away l used every space in the room. It looked like a sweat shop but productive.
Got up the next day ready to set my booth up for the weekend, so l did a bit of shopping in the morning and l could get into my booth at lunchtime. Well, the afternoon was productive and it looks great.

The shows have now begun

Well the shows has begun and Sydney is our first show of the year, and it is at Rosehill garden race  course and it looks great, we are in the pavillion Stand L18. Set up took us longer than usual, and our stands are bigger and better than ever, we now have buttons on the stand and they are Nikki Tervo designer buttons. We thought the buttons would compliment want we have and so far it has, because now you can embellish your work as well, Nikki and  l have a lot of new  ideas for new pieces and Nikki is at home getting a lot of these ready so lots of surprises are coming to you.

We have a lot of new design available for you all,  we are now carrying threads, cottage garden threads these are beautiful hand dyed thread  made  in Australia and they are great to work with, these are all verigated and the verigation is very short  so you are able to see your work  happen immediately, the Presencia threads which are colour fast, so you can be confident that now you can stitch red on white and the colours won’t bleed, and last of all we have the multi works threads they are on a cotton reel already two threads so they are great for needle punch embroidery, and you can use them continuously, this make it so much easier you don’t have to keep stopping . We are also carring stabiliser, pelon because you all asked for it . The best  needles are the clover no 9 needle in the cute little pack we cant keep up with the demand they are the best to use they are sharp have a golden eye and good to work with, plus we have a number of other thing so please come and visit us all on the stand, and meet the team we are all looking forward to seeing you all

We have some photos for you to see i hope you enjoy

Regards Catharina.
